Job Description

Our client in Aberdeen is looking for an experienced Estimator to join their Commercial Team on a full time permanent basis.

The Estimator will be responsible for accurate cost and price estimates along with other deliverables for the commercial function.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver estimates to the Senior Management team with clarity and precision
  • Identify and scrutinise critical commercial aspects pivotal for a successful bid
  • Conduct thorough analyses of competitors and market dynamics to inform our bid strategy
  • Collaborate closely with various OI departments, including Engineering, Legal, Finance, and Asset Management, to ensure accurate costing inputs
  • Compare cost estimates against historical benchmarks and meticulously analyse any discrepancies
  • Assess and quantify cost uncertainties and associated risks to inform decision-making
  • Participate actively in client clarification meetings and contribute to commercial discussions and decisions
  • Follow and enhance procedural frameworks to uphold the requisite quality and standards of estimating
  • Implement and uphold processes for transferring experience between Projects and the Commercial department
  • Undertake costing and pricing duties for bids with precision and diligence
  • Adhere strictly to procedures essential for maintaining the requisite quality and standards of bids

Key Requirements

  • Possess a proactive attitude, thrive on problem-solving, and relish challenging both yourself and others
  • Hold a degree or possess pertinent work experience
  • Ideally, have prior experience within the Subsea Oil and Gas Industry
  • Exhibit robust commercial acumen and a track record in tendering or project management
  • Display strong organisational skills, effectively managing time to meet deadlines
  • Capable of performing well under pressure and meeting stringent timelines
  • Demonstrate adept analytical problem-solving skills alongside organisational prowess
  • Collaborate effectively within teams, prioritising relationship-building and leadership
  • Showcase excellent communication abilities, adept at engaging with individuals across all organisational levels
