Technical Sales Engineer

We are working with our client based in Aberdeen to source a Technical Sales Engineer. This is a permanent role 
The job holder is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with new and existing customers and to increase company revenue by developing business throughout the UK, Scandinavia and Continental Europe Regions. Liaising with the Regional Manager and Sales/Marketing staff on commercial and marketing strategies to meet business and client objectives.
The job holder is required to make technical and commercially viable quotations from first principles. Must be able to answer technical queries from the clients, in line with their experience and the resources of Engineering and other departments. Working within a team where response to our client is priority. The job holder must be prepared to travel to both domestic and international locations to address and satisfy client’s requirements.
The job holder must be familiar or have operational experience with the following product lines and applications: E Line Logging Tools, Pipe recovery Jet cutters & W/L TCP Perforating applications and Systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and attaining personal sales targets, KPIs and sales strategies, incorporating the full range of products/services within identified markets or geography. Typical accounts are highly challenging and complex, with diverse customers who require ongoing client relationship support
  • Providing technical advice to internal (.e.g. sales) and external (i.e. clients and customers) stakeholders, using the resources of Engineering and other departments if and when required
  • Responsible for formulating weekly sales plans and attending weekly sales meetings
  • Using price lists that are available and generate new ones when required and implementing formal proposals/quotations to the customer. Taking a proactive role in gathering client information to allow the invention and development of new products to meet customers' present and future needs
  • Continually identifying, qualifying and maximizing opportunities to ensure a sufficient level of potential new business is maintained in the pipeline
  • Independently and actively generating commercially viable sales presentations, quotes and proposals that meet the technical needs of the customer and the commercial needs of the Company
  • Continually and actively presenting and marketing the Company’s services to existing and potential customers through direct communication in face-to-face meetings, telephone calls, emails and exhibition/trade shows
  • Liaising with customers to ensure that they are satisfied with the total experience of dealing with the Company
  • Working within corporate strategies and policy frameworks, designs and implements sales strategies, guidelines and procedures within broad principles and policies to meet sales requirements supporting short and long-term business goals
  • Providing operational cover and support to the department as and when needed
  • Implementing the correct reporting lines. Maintaining coordination with integral company functions and directing the flow of information of sales activities and transactions, including leads, contracts, global agreements etc.

  • Promoting Health and Safety policies, and communicate effective awareness of the risks and hazards to all personnel and maintain controls necessary for their safety and that of others
  • Performing all duties in accordance with the Company’s Quality Procedures and work Instructions in order to deliver and maintain the highest standards of quality for all products and services
  • Establishing self as a subject matter expert with customer and expert in designated technical/professional discipline
  • Creating and maintaining good working relationships with colleagues
  • Employees are expected to work whatever reasonable hours are necessary to meet the requirements of their job.
  • International and domestic travel is required, often at short notice, so a high degree of flexibility is required
  • Developing self within role and participate in and develop from training and developmental activities assigned to oneself.
  • Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • Degree in Business or Engineering discipline or demonstrable and extensive experience in a similar customer facing role - (essential)
  • Extensive and proven experience in a similar role with an Oilfield Service Company or Manufacturing supply company, working with similar explosive and downhole tools products - (desirable)
  • Extensive knowledge of Wireline Tools, Perforating Equipment, Pipe recovery applications – (essential)
  • A proven ability to identify, develop and convert market opportunities within the oil & gas sector – (essential)
  • Must be willing to undergo and pass a full and detailed police background check – (essential)
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft office programs – (essential)
  • Own an established Industry network – (essential)
  • Full UK Driving License – (essential).
